ILabel

Ifarms Smart Label branded the Information Label, or “ILabel” is being developed as a paper microfluidic adaptive laminate-sensor (μPAD) for the Molecular detection of food pathogens.

Bacteria are some of the best decomposer's, they break down dead and decaying organic matter, unfortunately, not all are good:

E.Coli (Escherichia coli) is a harmful bacteria found in the environment, especially in foods and intestines of people and animals

Salmonella, can be caused by eating undercooked eggs or egg related products, meat, poultry, as well as raw lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, etc.

Listeria, bacteria survives refrigerated conditions; in fact, its optimum growth range is 86 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit

While designed as a flexible product freshness label, the ILabel has further potential for detection of up to 290 known pathogens.

The ILabel has further application for bodily fluids and real-time self medical analysis with expected consumers purchasing rolls of ILabels for personal home use analysis.

The ILabel is IFarms product designed to catalogue produce seeds/eggs from source of purchase to growth module, tracking feed, nutrition, supplements as well as other elements such as water chemistry.

The labels will track all additives and handling of produce from time of purchase, to product wholesaler and final end point sale. The labels will be catalogued in the cloud and able to function at ambient room temperatures, as well as under refrigerated conditions. The labels includes a color graph to easily display product freshness and can also be scanned by a smart phone for additional product manufacturing & nutrition details.

ILabels will be adaptable to accommodate an external power source via a smart phone adapter, which will allow it to detect harmful bacteria & viruses in less than 180 seconds of application.

As you may know, some of these tests for pathogens typically take days to weeks to process depending on the type of pathogens being identified. The nano-sensors being employed in our smart labels are new technologies which are expensive to fabricate using current manufacturing technologies, regardless, they are strongly being considered for use as the bacteria & viral sensing potential is tremendous and can out way the product price point, especially if the labels are adapted for real-time home care medical analysis.

Fabrication talking points

IFarms seeks to employ customized new age printing technologies to manufacture its labels at a fraction of the cost of current manufacturing methods. We are renewing our fabrication focuses on  hybrid manufacturing process integrating oleophilic/hydrophobic/thermochemics into a flexible disposable product.
